INTERNATIONAL RSES. . .

For more than 75 years, RSES has been a leader in training and education in the HVACR industry. RSES was launched in an era when the small commercial and domestic refrigeration industry was entering its infancy.
In 1930, grocery stores and meat markets were converting their walk-in coolers with overhead ice bunkers with large coils and even bare pipe to keep food cold. Meanwhile, homeowners were converting their iceboxes to electric refrigeration by placing a brine tank in the ice compartment and installing a remote condensing unit, often in the basement or under a back porch.

Since then the HVACR industry has grown enormously. The refrigeration process of cooling and conditioning air impacts nearly every facet of modern life. Keeping pace with this evolution, RSES has remained dedicated to delivering technical information to the HVACR professional. Today, the Society actively conducts educational meetings, seminars, workshops, technical qualification and examination programs, instructor-led and self-study training courses. With 20,000 members in more than 400 chapters, and tens of thousands of additional technicians who routinely use its training materials in 50 countries across six continents, RSES is the premier educational organization for professional technicians and contractors.

Staying faithful to its original covenant, RSES continues to conduct educational meetings, seminars, workshops, technical certification and examination programs, training courses, publishes several volumes of technical training manuals, and publishes its own monthly trade magazine ( the RSES Journal).

HISTORY OF OUR ORGANIZATION

The Southwestern Regional Association of the Refrigeration Engineers Society was formed in 1950, with the primary objective being the education and uplifting of its members in the operation, maintenance, application, and servicing of all types of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. The organizational meeting was held in Waco, Texas, with member Chapter representatives from the states of New Mexico, Texas, and Louisiana in attendance.

The principal means toward this end of educating our members has been the promotion of meetings, both sectional and local, for the reading and discussion of appropriate papers and lectures relating to the industry.

The SWRA sponsors an Annual Educational Conference rotated between the principal areas of our Region so as to be as near as possible to the majority of the membership. This three day Conference includes seminars, educational sessions, trade show, and an annual business meeting. As well, local seminars are offered from time to time throughout the region.
